Indian folk art painting- an introduction

Classical painting is created by artists who have received formal education at a school of art. The artists have learnt techniques, trained for many years in several disciplines within the scope of the arts curriculum, have an understanding of the various movements in the history of art. They create art pieces for their aesthetic value and these art pieces are valued based on an appreciation of that aesthetic value. In contrast, folk art painting is referred to as work of an indigenous tribe or group of people, who use their art for utilitarian purposes.
